Women's Mountain Bike Day - Session Two
Dec 06
The second in a series of events promoting mountain biking for women will take place on Saturday 9th December in Belvoir Forest, Belfast. The first session, held at Craigavon Watersports Centre, was a resounding success, with sixteen riders enjoying the coaching sessions provided by Ciara McManus (Cycling Ulster Womens MTB Team Manager) and her jovial assistant Conor Graham.
The Belvoir Park event will see the morning session devoted to basic bike mechanics, puntures, gears and brakes. Following the lunch break the riders will take part in a trail ride, with attention focusing on cornering, descents and ascents. Both Ciara and Conor hope to have Irish Womens MTB Olympian, Tarja Owens, as part of their team on Saturday.
Numbers attending on Saturday will be restricted to 15, so anyone interested should contact Ciara as soon as possible, at ciaramacmanus@yahoo.com . Riders will be asked to pay a cover charge of £2. Showers and refreshments will be available. Start time is 10am. As at the first event, men are banned from attending!
