Round 2 Bigwood important information

Round 2 - Sunday 12th February 2006 BIG WOOD

Round 3 - Sunday 26th February 2006 MONEYSCALP

Round 4- Sunday 12th March 2006 BIG WOOD

Jan 06

Following the success of the first round of the Winter League in Moneyscalp last Sunday, Plush have made some improvements for next week's race.

Due to the increase in numbers of racers and the unprecedented demand, Plush have had new number boards printed this week, ready for next week's race. These number board were very expensive and it is intended that they will be kept for a number of years. All riders are asked to return their number board after their second run (or first run if they don't intend on completing their second run). These numbers will be assigned individually to riders and those riders who do not return their number board will be charged £5 replacement fee.

Other improvements the guys have made will be a better sign on system in order to make things run smoothly and they're planning on running a very tight ship with sign on starting at 9.15am and closing at 11.00 sharp. Riders are reminded they are not suppose to be on the course without signing on, and any riders that haven't signed on by 11am will not be allowed to do so. Sign on lists will be printed at 11.00am for course organisers.

Racing is then due to start at 12 noon sharp. Any riders who are not at the start line for their race run on time is putting the whole event in turmoil. Please help this race run smoothly as it does get dark at 5pm and the organisers wish to get everyone down the hill before then.

As for signing on, Plush are aware that Cycling Ireland have not yet provided the Cycling Ireland membership cards for riders who paid at 25Euro last week, however, Plush will have a list of everyone who purchased standard membership last week and these riders will be entitled to a 10Euro day licence. Any enquiries about this please contact Cycling Ireland directly.

Anyone who didn't race last week and doesn't have a licence should read RACE LICENCES FOR DUMMIES.

As a reminder - Riders cannot sign on until they have purchased a Cycling Ireland licence. If you have not purchased a Full Cycling Ireland membership and intend to race on a day licence, riders will need to purchase a day licence before they go to sign and to receive their number plate which will be a different queue to sign on. This is crucial to help proceedings go smoothly.

The format for the Winter League is as follows:

9.15-11am SHARP sign on
9-11.30am practice

12.00-2.00pm 1st run
2.00-4.00pm 2nd run (depending on numbers)

Cost of entry

Seniors/Masters/ Vets/Ladies/Juniors £15 Stg or 20 Euro

U14/U16 £10 Stg or 15 Euros

+ RACE LICENCE

Race Licence

A new race licence has been introduced for mountain bikers, meaning that the first time a rider races in a Cycling Ireland affiliated race, they automatically become Cycling Ireland members. For all the answers on Race Licences for 2006 see RACE LICENCES FOR DUMMIES which will be online ASAP!

No Mini Bikes in BigWood

Obviously, as usual, the organisers don't want to spoil anyones fun but they do not have permission from the Forestry to allow Mini Bikes or similar in the forest during the event. Please don't put the organisers in a position where riders are disqualified for breaking this rule. Its only a short walk to the top! Also as a reminder, PLEASE BRING YOUR LITTER HOME. Anyone who doesn't bring their litter home is putting future races at Bigwood in jeopardy.
