Here's how the new 2006 Day Licence works!
Following all the confusion over the new licence system for MTBers for 2006 we have put together a Licence Guide for Dummies!
Option 1 - Buy a full Cycling Ireland Race Licence
This is a full Cycling Racing Licence which entitles you to race in any discipline of cycling (MTB, Road, Track etc). Anyone intending to race world cups or to be included in national teams must have this licence and also pay for International authorisation. (additional €20)
Senior €115
Junior €65
U16 €35
U14 FREE + €5Euro personal accident fee (compulsory)
Option 2 - Buy a MTB only Cycling Ireland Race Licence (€80 all categories)
This licence only entitles you to enter MTB specific events and once purchased you can race as many MTB races are you like with no day licence charges.
Option 3 - Day Licences the whole year (with possible upgrade to full licence)
You can go the whole year without buying a full race licence from Cycling Ireland, here's how it works
- You go to your first race and you don't have a licence - you will have no choice but to pay €25 which includes 2 things:
- a Day Licence for that event
- Annual memership of Cycling Ireland
- Straight after the event the Commissaire of the race (the person you bought your day licence from) will post your form to Cycling Ireland and promptly a Cycling Ireland membership card will arrive at your door.
- This membership card will entitle you to race all year however you will have to buy a day licence for each event which will cost 10euro.
Example
Race 1 - €25 for Day Licence and Membership of Cycling Ireland
Race 2 - €10 for Day Licence
Race 3 - €10 for Day Licence
Race 4 - €10 for Day Licence
Race 5 - €10 for Day Licence etc........
- There is no limit to the number of Day Licences you can buy in one season but obviously it will get expensive if you do loads of races.
- At any point during the year you can choose to upgrade your membership to a full licence, you will get €25 credit, off the price of a full licence, but you will not be credited for any of the €10 day licences.
The main difference this will make is for the National Championships. In last year's scheme, One-day licence holders were not entitled to a championship medal or NPS points, whereas with the new scheme, all racers are effectively becoming members of the Cycling Ireland, therefore everyone in a medal position shall receive it, regardless of whether they hold a full licence.
Please note: All members registering to a club based in Ulster will incur a €10 surcharge which will be forwarded onto Cycling Ulster.
Please also note: U16 riders are entitled to a FREE Cycling Ireland race licence in their first year of racing. Please apply through your local club.
