Sean Herilhy nominated for a position on the Board of Cycling Ireland

Sean has been nominated for a position on the Board of Cycling Ireland. The AGM is on the 7th October in the Tara Towers Hotel in Booterstown ,Co Dublin..
Now what this means if he gets elected is that for the first time we will have a Mountainbiker on the governing board of the Cycling ireland.
For those of you who think that Sean is just a quiet lad who carries a folder around with him all the time and keeps me under control this is not so..
Sean has been mountainbiking a very long time, since the early 90's. He was in the now defunct Stephens Bike Shop Club.He was in MAD for a very long time. He won the Junior National XC champs in Kilruddery and has represented his Country as an Elite XC rider. THese days his racing focus is on Downhill where he cracked the top ten in his first years racing as a Senior.
So as far as racing goes he knows his stuff..
Now, the more important things that hes involved in is making sure we all have somewhere to ride our bikes.
He is one of the Founders of MBI, hes involved in " Leave no trace", at present hes on a secret mission to save everybodys favourite mountainbike playground ( details to follow), hes the man who secured the Grant for the Irish Downhill track in Wicklow. He got Kindlestown going.
Hes the man who came up with the idea for the Blast and the Ladies spins, not to mention all the beginner spins that filled the club with members.
In my opinion hes the ideal choice to represent us at such a high level. He rides his bike, he digs trails, he races, he minds beginners, he keeps the rogue elements under control, he puts on his suit and talks to important people and gets things done.
Sean has sacrificed his riding to make things happen for us, he has all our best interests at heart, we should get behind him.
I'll have more details about the voting but I do believe it goes like this.
Every Club gets 2 votes at the Cycling Ireland AGM. So all you affiliated clubs need to go and help usher in a new Golden age for Irish Mountainbiking,
Regards Richie
