Irish Winter League 2010 Round 2 Cloon - Preview
The second round of the 2010 winter league takes place on the weekend of 30/31st January in Cloon Wood, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.
Track Description
The track for this year Epic downhill winter league will be run on the track know as ‘Colin’s Track’ and to anyone that doesn’t know it well it’s not the NPS track. Starting off you come down the start ramp into a long continuous left hander over the wall and right over the back of the berm which brings you straight down along the wall and into the first of a number of bus stops that take up and down off the wall, trying to keep the fast line up and down the wall a number of times is the key here. When you come off the last bus stop you’re into a straight with a fast left hand berm at the end which is followed by a long right hand corner and then up and over the fallen tree you go out into the open section. Fast as you can straight over the wall into a left hand turn rock garden then back across the wall again into the ski jump, landing from that you’re into a quick right hand berm, over the wall, dropping into a left hand berm then a short straight with a left hand berm at the end which bring you through wall again and into a long right hand berm. Out of that you’re into a straight fast chute with a slight left right over a drop, then fast across a small rock garden over another small drop and trying to stay off the brakes into the rock wall ride, off that and across the rocks and over the rock drop at the end and pedal for the line and you’re finished. The track is nice and straight forward with lines around any of the jumps and is well rideable on a short travel or even hardtail bike.
We shall try and get some video footage up soon.

Parking
Parking will be provided within the forest, on forest road, or in the small carpark across the road from the main entrance. Parking is not allowed along the Public Road outside Cloon. The road is used heavily by tour busses bringing American’s to see their ancestors hovels, if people park on the road they will not be able to get past. The Gards have been involved in the past when we have parking issues, we do not want that, and I am sure drivers don’t either. If you are dropping people off, a small set down area will be provided at the forest entrance, please do not block the road, even if it is only for a few minutes.
Overnight parking in the forest will be not permitted but the barrier will be locked at 6pm on Saturday evening. There is a small public carpark across the road, if you want to park there either Friday / Saturday night. Please be aware that there has been anti social behaviour in the area before so take care. Minibike use and camp fires are strictly forbidden.
