James O’Carroll, based in Dublin, has been a familiar face in the Irish DH scene for a number of years and is probably best known for tearing down the track in his Bermuda style shorts and t-shirt with no evidence of body armour in sight, aside from a full facer to protect his rugged good looks.

According to James, those days are now gone, and as the proprietor of the only authorised Fox Racing Shocks Service and Warranty Centre in Ireland he is now concentrating on the servicing end of the DH game. As part of the development strategy of this fledgling business, James has tied up with the current Junior Irish DH Champion, Ewan Doherty. Belfast boy Ewan has moved up to the Elite category this year and after an early season injury he’s now getting up to race pace. Now in with the Elites Ewan now has the comfort of knowing that big OC is there to give his forks and bike all the TLC that it needs to give him the edge. OC Tuning will be supporting Ewan in all of the Irish NPS rounds and selected races outside Ireland and James is building up a relationship with Solid bikes which will hopefully provide additional support for Ewan.

James and Ewan with the Solid Mission

James on Ewan – “I’ve watched Ewan develop to Junior Champion and he just keeps getting’ faster and faster and he’s the most improved rider in Ireland over the past few years. It wasn’t just his results that told me to go with Ewan. It was his attitude – he’s not cocky, he gives 100% and he’s got this passion for DH!”

Ewan on James – “I’m so pleased that James has chosen me to sponsor and support this year. It came a bit out of the blue and even though we’re not long into the season the help that James has given me has been fantastic and it’s pretty cool stepping off the bike after a run knowing that someone is there to sort it all out for you. I just hope that James knows what he’s got himself in for cos I do tend to break things on the bike!”
