MTB TRAIL BUILDING - TRAINING GIVEN GO AHEAD

Tyrone Training Services has committed approximately £14,000 to CAAN to train 4 people in mountain bike trail construction. The course will run over 6 weeks and will cover training and assessment in manual handling, brushcutting, tractor digging and chainsaw maintenance and use. This will be followed by a week long course in practical trail construction techniques.

The course will be delivered by Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland and will begin in Spring 2005. Applications will be invited from residents of Omagh Council area.

Trainees will be the first trained mountain bike trail builders in Ireland and their skills will be valuable throughout Ireland , GB and further afield.
