Irish NPS Round 2

This weekend Sunday 5th June

Lumpers, Ravensdale, Co Louth

June 05

The second round Irish NPS kicks off this weekend in with the Zealoptics NPS Round 2 in Lumpers organised by Plush Cycles. Again, ZealOptics and Plush Cycles will be sponsoring very generous prizes, with first prize a set of Zeal Goggles.

Following last week's first round in Moneyscalp, lots of riders will be trying to hold their position in the series, or trying to better their result from last week. If last week is anything to go by, a great turnout is expected, so everyone is advised to be there early and expect a good days craic!

The track will follow a similar route to the previous race course built by the Lawlors and co. but with a new top section and some alterations on the way down. The track is designed to be fast and fun with enough challenge for all and is fully rollable with no long chicken runs. The risky lines will only save the top riders a second or two. The course is now fully taped, so watch out for those long evening practice session people are putting in....

The format for the Sunday ZealOptics Irish NPS Round 2 is as follows:

9-11am sign on
9-12noon practice

12.30-2.00pm 1st run
2.30-4.00pm 2nd run

Cost of entry

Seniors/Masters/ Vets £15 Stg or 20 Euro

Juniors £10 Stg or 15 Euros

U16's £7.50 or 10 Euros

The cost of a day licence is £10 Stg or 15 Euros

No Mini Bikes in Lumpers Forest

As with last week's event, the organisers don't want to spoil anyones fun but they do not have permission from the Forestry to allow Mini Bikes or similar in the forest during the event. Please don't put the organisers in a position where riders are disqualified for breaking this rule. Uplift will be provided on Sunday!

So far the track has handled the weather well, so hopefully, provided the weather stays dry, the track will stay the same. Anyone wanting to keep an eye on it should click HERE!

How to get there

Go to Ravensdale Forest car park, off the A1 between Dundalk and Newry and follow the back road south past Ravensdale Post Office until you see a pub called Lumpers. Follow the little road up the side of the pub until you get to the dead end and forest gate. Head up the fire road and you will immediately see the two bike made ruts coming out of the forest.

If you visit the area, be aware that there are private residences nearby, respect the locals, park sensibly, don’t block drive ways and don’t make a mess. If there is nowhere to park at the forest gates, use the Lumpers Pub car park (500 yards away) and buy a pint before you go.

We at IrishDH.com would like to thank ZealOptics for the sponsorship and Plush for running the event and would urge all riders, racers and non-racers alike to show your support for both organisations.
