UCI Points needed for DH World Cup entries

March 05

UCI, within the last few days have changed their policy and have announced that to enter Downhill World Cup riders must have at least 1 UCI point. This is a change of policy - it had been intended that qualification was to be at the discretion of National governing bodies.

Riders wishing to qualify for World Cups can still do so by finishing in the top 10 overall times at the Irish National Championships or the first 2 rounds of the Scottish Downhill Series. None of the British NPS races carry E2 status.

As stated in the UCI DH World Cup race registration information on 28 th February 2005 that ‘ For participating in downhill World Cup events, riders need at least one (1) UCI point.’ It is expected that Cycling Bodies had been disputing this but to no avail.
