Chain Reaction Cycling Club Winter Series 2008 Round 2 Race Report
On a dry but bitterly cold day Moneyscalp Wood played host to the second and final round of the 2008 DH Winter Series. The first round was a resounding success with 159 riders signing on and the second round was even better subscribed to with 169 riders of all ages signing on to do battle. It was great to see an even bigger turnout of girls/ladies with 6 girls signing on which we think is the best ever turnout of solely local riders in this cat – and there’s still more to come! MORE

2007 World Championships
Fort William
Well, that’s another MTB World Champs over for another year and what an event. All the hype and expectation largely lived up to its word although the weather did do it’s best to dampen the occasion. An anticipated crowd of 30k+ for the Sunday finale was estimated as being closer to 20/25k and even the deteriorating weather couldn’t detract from the occasion and the enthusiasm of the crowd who lined the course from top to bottom with the inevitable mass at the finish area enjoying the massive screen beaming live coverage down most of the track. Sunshine and Mud at Coolaveely
Irish DH NPS Round 6 - Coolaveely Sunday 24th September 2007
Round of the Irish downhill NPS brought us to Coolaveely Forest, outside Ballycastle, Co Antrim. A track resurrected in 2006 from 'back in the day', it's been described as one of the best tracks in the country for beginners and people wanting to come along for 'a big of fun'. This was evident in the numbers that signed on, as out of 120 riders, 21 of these riders had never raced in the 2007 Irish NPS. MORE |

Irish NPS Round 5 - Killarney Race Report
Round 5 of the Irish NPS series took place in Killarney marking the first ever DH NPS in County Kerry. The local crew, headed by Dennis O’Shea of the Big Little Bike Shop have been itching to stage a race but have been frustrated by the fact that much of Kerry is a National Park meaning no mountain biking (take note that there are proposals to make the Mournes a national park) leaving them surrounded by mountains forests and a fantastic landscape but nowhere to race.MORE |
