Irish National Championships 2008 Race Preview

Hosted by 021 Racing

Cahir, Co Tipperary

19th & 20th July 2008

On July 19th & 20th, 021 Racing is proud to bring you the 2008 Downhill Mountain Bike National Championships, to be held just outside Cahir, Co. Tipperary.

The Course - Just a quick description. Starting out in the open, speed picks up quite easily through some nice turns that lead you into the trees. Really fun section with big berms, jumps and rollers lead to the step-up. The landing from this takes you into another big berm, some off-camber and the first rock section. Clean the rocks and speed starts to pick up through the turns that take you down to the road-gap.
After picking up some air miles, things get faster and rougher. Roots, rocks, and off-camber require some serious body language to stay on the faster line. A long rough left hander with a quick flick to the right sets you up for a jumpable rock garden. Make sure you get this right… A nice and quick to a road crossing takes you into some tricky single track through the trees and down to the bomb hole. On the gas through the trees and down towards the very quick corners to the finish…

The Event -
As usual with an 021 event we will have catering, live timing and uplifts.

Timing will be provided by NACC. We will also have SEEDING RUNS on the Saturday afternoon.
Catering will be the same company as Dunmanway. Tasty burgers…

Redbull will also be on board for the event bringing The arch, the truck, the wigwam and of course free redbull...

Uplifts will be running on both the Saturday and Sunday. No race number = no uplift.
Riding the course without a number over the course of the event will jeopardise the event since you are not covered under the events insurance or medical support.

An event timetable will be posted a little closer to the event

Directions-

The road Layout is slightly different to the map because of the motorway construction, so I have added in the last stretch of road as best I could.

As you exit the roundabout on the N24 for Limrick, immediately after you go under the fly-over take the first left turn, then you make a left turn at the next junction and finally go straight through the staggered crossroads to the parking area..

That is as straight forward as I can make it for you and there are signs put up on all routes leading to the roundabout.
