Irish NPS 2007 League Round-up
The final round of the Irish NPS 2007 took place last weekend with almost 350 riders taking part in the the league throughout the 2007 season. 2007 saw the introduction of 2 day events, as well as the introduction of the 'sport' category to Irish races, which saw an unprecedented 70 riders compete in the sport category throughout the NPS.

The final round of the Irish NPS 2007 took place last weekend with almost 350 riders taking part in the the league throughout the 2007 season. 2007 saw the introduction of 2 day events, as well as the introduction of the 'sport' category to Irish races, which saw an unprecedented 70 riders compete in the sport category throughout the NPS.
A special mention goes to the following riders how completed all seven round:

Using the UCI regulated points system throughout the whole 2007 NPS, here's how the categories fared:
U14s
23 U14 riders battled it out for top place in the category. Gavin Carroll, having won all but one event which he competed in, took top place with a total of 1450 points. Dan Sheridan, having completed all round of the Irish NPS grew from strength to strength throughout the year to finishing with a regular podium position, and even taking a win to secure him second place in 995 points. Congratulations Dan. Kyle Rimmer kept his form from 2006, with regular podiums to clock up 850 points and to take third place, while Paul Smith, another U14 rider who competed in all events notched up 695 points to take fifth place ahead of Liam Williams who held on to a regular third place positron, and secured 660 points. Well done lads.

U16s
With the exception of round three, Banbridge's Davy Graham had a clean sweep in the 2007 NPS, however, having dropped his points from round 3 due to competing in all events, Davy secured the maximum points of 1500. Greg Callaghan, a regular second place to Davy, managed 1095 points in his six rounds to take second place. Paul McGrady recorded some respectable results to ensure his third place position, just ahead of Marc Potts. Marc, who had enough points to take third place, dropped to fourth place due to dropping points from round 4 (his worst result), unfortunately losing out on a podium. Paul notched 985 points, however, Marc recorded 925 points. Gavin kelly, who also competed in all seven rounds, lost out on a position due to dropping points, however finished only five points below Marc to secure fifth place. Congratulations to almost 50 U16 riders who competed in 2007.

Vets
The elimination of the supervet category, meant twice as many vets riders for the 2007 season. Bananaman Carl Young, competed in all events and secured three first place positions to register 1320 points and to take top spot. Team Commencals/Real Cycles Stevie Davidson secured second place in the league, also with three wins, and with 1120 points. Chain Reaction's Michael White featured on the podium four times to secure 890 points, and third place, while Tom Sheridan only managed to miss one event, and recorded 730 points throughout the season to claim fourth place. Papa TC, Tom Clogher just missed out on fourth place by 25 points, however settled for fifth place with 705 points.

Ladies
An injury at the start of 2007, put last year's winner Michele Macartney out of action for the 2007 season. Maeve Baxter participated in four events, to secure first place with 1200 points, just ahead of Banbridge's Joanne McCallum who managed 600 points in three events. Newcomer for 2007, Natalie Jedda secured 400 points from the final two rounds to take third place, ahead of Abagail Hogg and Micele Macartney in fourth and fifth places. Hope to see you all again in 2008 girls.

Sport
2007 saw the introduction of the sport category, with over 70 riders competing in the category. Throughout the seven events in 2007, six different riders claimed first place in the category - Thomas Clogher, Gary Wall (x2), Vincent Tsoi, Derek O'Donoghue and Jian Silou. Regardless of this, the top two riders competed in all sevens events in the 2007 NPS namely, Kenneth Murphy and Greg O'Keefe. Kenneth clocked up 711 points, while Greg clocked 670 points throughout the season. TC Racing's Thomas Clogher secured third place, with three podium positions and 620 points, while Barry Hamilton only managed three second places, and 600 points to secure fourth place. Enda Munnelly, who also featured on the podium three times secured 570 points to take fifth place.

Seniors
Top of the 70 riders in the 2007 Irish NPS was newcomer for the year, Cork's Ben Mullen. Ben secured three wins out of the seven, and clocked up 1217 points to put Brian Cooney off the podium. Brian lost out, having competed in all seven events, dropped his worst result and fell back to second place with 1170 points. James Burns, who competed in six out of seven events clocked up 770 points throughout the year to take third place, while Epic's Alastair Maxwell, having competed in all seven events, secured 670 points, his best result a third place, to take fourth place. Rory Beirne managed fifth place with a respectable 534 points. Well done lads.

Masters
Last years NPS winner settled for second place in the NPS, with team mate, Chain Reaction's Michael Cowan moving from the elite category to complete the Donny clean sweep of the 2007 categories. Michael scored 1500 points, with Ian McIntyre recording a total of 1080 points, only missing out in the podium in round three. Epic's Sean Herily competed in five rounds to record 620 points and take third place, while David Lenehan managed six of the seven rounds to secure 574. Joe Ward missed out on fourth place by four points, however notched up 570 points within three races with three podiums.

Junior
38 riders competed in the 2007 Irish NPS, with 2006 U16 champion, Ewan Doherty secured top place with a total of 1450 points, and five first place positions. Killarney's Jason Murphy competed in all seven rounds to take second place, dropping his worst result (3rd place!) and securing 1240 points. Andrew Godfrey, who also managed six rounds, registered third place on the podium with 790 points, just ahead of Banbridge's Jonny McKee who's second place in Waterford helped towards his fourth place position with 770 points. Karl O'Sullivan managed to take fifth place by registering six results and a scored of 715 points.

Four winners in the seven rounds, Ben Reid (x2), Glyn O'Brien (x2), Dale McMullan, Gerard Wolfe and Dan Wolfe. Gerard Wolfe, winner of round 6 managed top spot in the elite category having competed in six events and scored 1060 points. Waterford's Tom Power managed to compete in all seven events and scored 885 points to take second place ahead of Chain Reaction's Dale McMullan who also competed in all seven rounds and secured 830 points. Glyn O'Brien managed four events, and two first places to take fourth place with 760 points, ahead of Darren Quille who secured fifth place with six results and a score of 705.
